Tammie Rose Hodgetts

“My aspiration is to create art pieces that are engaging in detail and technique, while giving the viewer an emotional experience every time they view the work.”

Tammie Rose Hodgetts was born in 1988 in Feilding, New Zealand she has lived and worked in the Manawatu since. Her passion for art started at an early age, while undertaking homeschooling. First introduced to art in real substance in 2009 under the tutorage of New Zealand Artist Rita Esther. Influenced by Esther's own work and the traditional cubist works of Braque, Picasso and Metzinger. She began to paint cubist style landscapes of the Rangitikei region.

Tammie’s paintings are known for there distinct style and bold colour. Her technique of painting is a unique style which uses cubism as a modern geometric value, while embracing an organic richness through the use of light, blending and a wide use of colour.

Tammies work is found in both public and private collections in New Zealand, London, Sweden and Australia.

In 2013 she began experimenting with graphite drawing techniques which have developed into a series of New Zealand bird drawings. These led to the completion of a self published adults colouring book called “Looking for Paradise” in 2015.

In 2016 Tammie had three solo exhibitions and held several teaching sessions and workshops at her Pohanglina Valley studio, Manawatu. Today Tammie works from her home studio in the Rangitikei. And in 2017 Tammie completed more commissioned paintings and showed work in the NZ Art Show in June.
